This Week's Flowers + New Tapes

The boyfriends parents came over for dinner on Wednesday and his mom was so sweet and brought me a lovely little rose bouquet from De Fire Årstider in Lyngby. De Fire Årstider is one of my favorite flower shops but I don't get to go very often because it is a little outside of the city. They have a wonderful selection of cut flowers, bouquets, house plants and potted flowers as well as some home decor items. If you are ever on the shopping street in Lyngby, definitely pay them a visit! 

Besides the roses, the boyfriend's mom also brought me three new MT tapes! And my wonderful friend F in Vancouver also sent me a roll of tape which I received earlier this week. I'm so thankful to have such thoughtful people in my life who spoil me with things I love!

It's holiday here in Denmark today and the boyfriend has Monday and Tuesday off before he starts his new job next week so it's like an extra long weekend for us. I'm looking forward to the next few days!

Colorful Cubes

I was given some small wooden cubes this week and I thought about what I could do with them. Initially I thought I could make little stamps, but as I thought about it some more, I thought I could make a little set of alphabet blocks, and then I came across this Etsy post on colorful cubes and I was sold.

This is a really simple craft project. You just need some wooden cubes in whatever size you'd like, some acrylic paint, a paintbrush, and some masking tape. Stick a piece of tape diagonally across one side of the cube. Put on 2 coats of paint and let dry. Remove tape and repeat the two steps if you would like to paint the other side of surface, if not, that's it!

I like the bright colors and it is a fun whimsical thing to leave out on the coffee table and play with. I am planning on putting letters on the opposite side of the cube as well so I can still have a little set of alphabet blocks. I love simple projects and I find crafting and little projects like this are really relaxing.

The boyfriend and I were out doing some Christmas shopping today but a snowstorm is supposed to hit Copenhagen tomorrow so we'll probably stay in most of the day. Sounds like it might be a good day to stay in and make some lussekatter and watch some movies! We've also been eating like 10 clementines a day, we're sort of addicted (there are some really good deals for clementines at Torvehallerne, that's where we've been going for them)! Happy Weekend!

MT Love

It is no secret to my friends and family that I L O V E masking tape (MT)/washi tape. Whenever someone tells me "I got you a present", my first response is, "Is it tape?!". I bought my first rolls of this wonderful tape last summer and have been adding to my collection ever since. Really, this is just colorful masking tape but you can use it in so many ways. Check out my MT Love board on Pinterest for some ideas as to how you can use tape!

I use MT a lot for making and decorating cards and envelopes. I made a birthday card last night and an everyday card to send to some friends in the next few months. The birthday cake is inspired by Omiyage. I have made a cupcake card and a few birthday cake cards now and it is such an easy way to send someone a handmade and personalized card. With the "du har det dejligste smil i verden" (you have the prettiest smile in the world) card, I just cut the quote out from a free postcard you can find all around Copenhagen and used layers of tape to attach it to the white cardstock I have. Easy peasy.

The boyfriend and I are also currently on the hunt for some photographs or nice prints to place in some new picture frames we bought to hang in the apartment and as we don't have anything right now, this will have to do for the next little while!
