33 Weeks

We are  (slowly) nearing the end! The baby will be considered full term in just under 4 weeks now, but I am not getting my hopes up that she'll come early. So who knows, we may have 7 to 9 weeks left. I really hope she doesn't get too too comfortable in there at the end. I also feel like I have grown a ton the last few weeks even though my weight hasn't gone up very much. The bump is getting a little big and awkward to deal with. It has been a bit more uncomfortable sitting at a desk all day the last few weeks and I'm constantly changing sitting positions. But anyways, I'll get to the update!

How far along are you? 33 weeks + 2 days

Sleep: I am still sleeping through the night but have been getting up really early, and it's not because I am going to bed earlier. I am getting up around 5:30 these days. Yikes! I would love to get an extra half hour but I haven't been too tired from these earlier wake up times.

Movement: There's still a lot of movement going on in there! Sometimes I describe the feeling as there's an alien in your stomach and it's trying to crawl out. Jabs are getting stronger and there are more obvious stretching movements. They are also starting to get painful and really uncomfortable. Her bum is normally around my belly button and her little feet are way out there on the side.

Favorite moment: We ordered some little baby mocs last weekend and they arrived in the mail yesterday. Can't wait to see her in them! They are seriously so cute.

Cravings: Nope still no cravings. Although we have been watching season 3 of Mind of a Chef on Netflix and now I really want fried chicken. I guess that counts as a craving? In general though, I always just miss and crave food I can't find here...

Looking forward to: Finishing the last few days of my internship this week! After this week, I get to start my mini vacation/maternity leave. It's been nice going to work everyday and being productive, but I'm getting more lazy about moving around and taking the metro and climbing four sets of stairs at home and at work.

Changes to the home: Our baby room is pretty much all put together. We have the crib, the changing table, little closet and lights all set up. Now we just need to fill in the shelves and organize and pick up a few more things for her like clothes and pacifiers and baskets to store diapers, etc. I'd like to add a bit more decor to her room but we're also not in a rush.

That's all from me for now! Happy Sunday!

28 Weeks

Yay! We are officially in the third trimester now. It feels like it has taken a long time to get here and I still have just under three months to go. I do hope this little baby comes out a bit before the full 40 weeks. Anything after 37 weeks is good with me!

Sleep: I am still sleeping through the night and am enjoying it while I can. They say it is common to have pregnancy insomnia so I hope that doesn't come on in these last few months.

Movement: The baby is still kicking and punching, but she has has also slowed down a bit and has been more rolling around this past week. Maybe it's cause space is getting tighter in there? It's a weird feeling when you feel a person rolling inside of your stomach though.

Favorite moment: I don't think I have a favorite moment from this past week. In general, I've had it pretty easy where most days the pregnancy hasn't gotten in the way of my "everyday" routine or life. I'm going to the gym and doing TRX twice a week, going for walks everyday, and I will be doing a 4 week internship in April. I am slower going up the stairs to our apartment and I am getting a bit tired in the evenings again, but nothing crazy.

Cravings: Still no cravings. Just trying to eat as healthy as possible while still indulging in some treats.

Looking forward to: Our hypnobirthing class at the beginning of April. I know labor and giving birth is painful, but I've been reading Ina May Gaskin's book "Guide to Childbirth" and we've signed up for a hypnobirthing class at Jordemoderhuset so I hope by preparing myself and learning some coping techniques, it won't be so bad.

Changes to the home: The baby has their own "room"! Last weekend the husband and a friend moved the shelves from our walk-in closet into our bedroom so the baby's room is all clear. Next up is to do some painting, and to buy a changing table, crib, and a buggy!

24 Weeks

Wow! I feel like I/the baby has grown a lot in the last four weeks. I finished working at the end of January (I was on a contract) and I wasn't showing so much, but now I feel like I am huge! I can still fit into some of my jeans but I may need to invest in some new gym tights and some longer tops soon.

How far along are you? 24 weeks

Sleep: I am used to sleeping on my side so that hasn't been a problem. I am sleeping through the night again which is great! Getting up around 6:15 or so which is pretty normal for me.

Movement: The baby is rolling around and jabbing me at all times of the day now! She is getting stronger and sometimes if I poke and prod a bit, I can sort of feel where she is lying inside.

Favorite moment: When we actually saw my stomach bounce from her kicking (or punching)!

Cravings: No real cravings still! I have been loving pineapple this week though.

Looking forward to: Buying and making some new things for the baby! We bought her a little onesie and a little jean dress the other week. I've been eyeing some little mocks from minimocks and minimoc.  I'm also planning on making a little tassle mobile for her room one of these days.

Changes to the home: The husband and I have started purging our closet. We have a walk-in closet that we will turn into a mini baby room so we need to downsize a bit and in the next few months and move the actual closet into our bedroom.

Boy or Girl?

At our 20 week scan (almost a month ago now), we got to see our little baby again! We found out what the gender of the baby is, and more importantly, they checked that the baby was developing and growing as they should and they are!

Last Friday, the husband and I made a little gender reveal announcement, and here it is!

I was not expecting to have a girl at all! We have a few friends are also having babies this spring, and they are having girls. The husband's cousins had little girls last year as well. And a bunch of people on Facebook were also having girls. So I pretty much concluded that because everyone else was having a girl, that we would probably be having a boy! I come from a family of all girls so I had no idea how it would be with a boy, but I had come to think of the baby as a boy and had begun to think of different names and had started using my favorite name on the baby. But nope! I wasn't shocked at the scan, just surprised that it wasn't a boy and that we were actually having a girl! I secretly love all the baby girl fashion so this was a welcome surprise and the husband secretly wished for a girl too. He even asked the midwife at the scan if she was totally sure the baby was a girl and not a boy!

We can't wait to meet this little girl! She is getting bigger (as in I am getting bigger) and more active with each day. I am a little over 23 weeks today so there is still quite a ways to go but we're starting to pick out little clothes and decor items for her!

20 Weeks

I am really tempted to call this a "bumpdate" but I won't because it is sorta cheesy (even though I am secretly loving the word). But this IS a baby bump update!

As of Friday, I am officially halfway/20 weeks into this pregnancy. I read quite a few blogs, a handful of which are baby/mom blogs, and I've seen quite a few people do these weekly updates and I think they're fun to read. I haven't recorded so much of this pregnancy so I thought it would be fun to do updates every once in awhile. Some people do really long extensive bump updates, but I've just picked and chosen what I like/feel like sharing so here we go!

How far along are you? 20 weeks +1 day

Sleep: At the beginning of the pregnancy I was sleeping really early (like 8:30pm) but things are back to normal now. I have noticed that I haven't been sleeping as well or as deeply as before though. A bit more tossing and turning these days.

Movement: The baby has been kicking the last two weeks. There aren't any set patterns or anything, but I do notice them more in the evening and sometimes after having something to eat.

Favorite moment: I told the husband to put his hand on the little bump earlier this week and I told him the baby had kicked and he said he felt it so that's pretty special!

Cravings: I haven't had any outrageous cravings this whole pregnancy. Mostly craving things that I already liked before getting pregnant. This means chips and fries! Although I try to control my chip eating a bit and sometimes shake things up and have popcorn instead.

Looking forward to: We have a scan on Monday night where a midwife will examine the baby from top to bottom and we'll get to find out whether we're having a girl or a boy, so we are really looking forward to that!

Changes to the home: Nothing so far. We might go look at some sofa couches tomorrow for my parents to stay on when they come visit in June but otherwise, all of the major changes will happen after I finish working (and after more visa applications - story of my life here).

DIY Stamped Onesie or Stamped Anything

I hosted a baby shower for my friend S today and I couldn't wait to share this cute DIY. I thought it would be a fun activity to decorate some onesies at the baby shower. It gives guests the opportunity to get creative and the baby will get some new and unique onesies to wear.

I told S that I had made my sample onesie for the baby shower and we hung out the other day and she wanted to see a picture of the one that I had made. So I happily showed her a picture of it! I am the worst at keeping secrets!

I had thought about buying buttons, some lace trims, and some iron on transfers to decorate the baby onesies with, but then I thought that might get too complicated. So instead of running around the city and buying lots of different knick knacks to decorate with, I went for using potato stamps!

Seriously, potato stamps are so fun and so easy to make. I simply cut my little potato in half, and took a regular pen and "drew"a raindrop on it. The pen started carving out the raindrop and to really get the raindrop to stand out and act as a stamp, I took an exacto knife and just cut around my traced raindrop shape so that it would be raised.

To stamp a baby onesie or a shirt, make sure you put some cardboard inside so that the fabric paint from the stamp won't go through the fabric and onto the other side. Put some fabric paint on the stamp with a paintbrush or a foam brush and then stamp! Continue stamping until you're happy with your piece and that's about it! You can use potato stamps on anything from tea towels to paper cards to making a pattern on your wall!

I bought my fabric paint at Panduro and after the paint dried, I needed to iron the painted area inside out for 5 minutes to set the paint. But that step may or may not be necessary, just check with your brand of fabric paint!

Now what can I stamp next?!
