Pleasantly Surprised in Riga

I was in Riga two weekends ago for a work trip. The company I work for has offices in the two other Scandinavian countries, as well as in Finland and Latvia and every year, all the offices go on a trip together and this year it was Riga!

I wasn't sure what to expect in Riga. I pictured it being a bit gray and plain and full of apartment blocks that all looked the same. But I was pleasantly surprised! The old town is colorful, there is a variety of architectural styles seen throughout the city, and they have some lovely parks and green spaces.

Have you visited the Baltic states before? I was fascinated by the little bit of Latvian history I learnt while I was there. If it wasn't for this work trip, I probably would have never gone to Riga (well, maybe not never but it definitely is not on my list of priorities) and now that I've been there, I think it could be worth a second trip!

  1. My name is Joe Pinzone and I'm casting an international travel show about expats moving abroad. We'd love to film in Denmark and wanted to know if you could help us find expats who have moved there within the last 15 months or have been there for 3-4 years, but recently moved into a new home. The show documents their move to a new country and will place the country in fabulous light. The contributors on the show would also receive monetary compensation if they are filmed. If you'd like more information, please give me a call at 212-231-7716 or skype me at joefromnyc. You can also email me at joepinzone@leopardusa.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.
